Teacher Training Program

The Peruvian Ministry of Education lacks specific teaching criteria for special education.  Teachers at Camino Nuevo receive an intensive training program upon entry to the educational center with high performance expectations. They are frequently evaluated on their teaching skills which creates a consistent and reputable learning environment for all students

Preparing Teachers

Camino Nuevo is a model for quality special education in the Cusco region. Most teachers beginning at Camino Nuevo have little to no experience in special education due to the lack of specialized courses. We look for enthusiastic, creative, positive teachers who are willing to learn a new teaching system and receive our coaching

Practicum Students

Higher education institutions in Peru, both public and private, provide minimal teaching surrounding special education topics. Most recently graduated teachers from universities view special education as an undesired position due to the reputation of local schools and lack of preparation.

Manos Unidas Peru seeks contracts with local and international educational institutions offering opportunities for practicum students to work in our facility. We aim to teach new approaches to special education,  forming a positive perspective of teaching children with special needs.
