
Long Term Volunteer Program
Manos Unidas offers our long-term volunteer program for recent graduates or people with experience
in the following fields:
-Special Education
-Speech Therapy
-Psychology
- Physical/Occupational Therapy
-Art/Music Therapy
-Young Adults with Disabilities
-Autism Education
-Other Related Fields
Description
Volunteers work on a daily basis
with students at our Special Education School, Camino Nuevo. They are placed in classrooms based on their skills and experience.
Additionally, volunteers have the opportunity to create/organize their own long-term project based on their skills and interests.
Volunteers may choose to work in the early childhood programs, early elementary, elementary or young adult vocationl training
program.
Duration
1-6 months
March–December in the academic school year
January-February in the summer school program

consideration when planning your trip (see below)
Accommodation
Volunteers will be provided with an communal living arrangement in our furnished
volunteer house in Cusco. The house is complete with bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen and small patio. Volunteers
will share the living space and be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the house.
Volunteer Support
Manos Unidas volunteer coordinator will provide a brief city tour/orientation,
medical support, assistance with arranging local tours/trips, optional arrangement of Spanish classes and housing support.
Not Included
Food: Meals are not included in
the volunteer program costs. Lunch menus are available at restaurants from $2-5, kitchen is provided in the volunteer house.
Spanish school: Manos Unidas can
suggest different Spanish school options from intensive courses to conversational classes. Spanish lessons are not included
in the volunteer price. A MODERATE LEVEL OF SPANISH IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM

Professional Exchange Program
Manos Unidas' Professional
Exchange Program is designed to give specialists in the field an opportunity to contribute their knowledge and experience
in a teacher-training format. Their time is spent holding workshops for groups of local teachers and professionals, observing
and consulting classrooms and collaborating one-on-one with the teachers at Camino Nuevo. Professionals may participate in
specific campaigns that will be held throughout the year. The goal of this program is to provide a cultural exchange opportunity
within their professional.
Duration
1-3 weeks March-December
Accommodations
Professional Volunteers will be comfortably
accommodated with a local host family in an upper-middle class neighborhood of Cusco. They will be provided with 3 meals/day.
Support
Brief city tour/orientation,
goal setting, medical support, assistance with arranging local tours/trips, organization of workshops, translation of presentations/materials
Cost $200/week (includes furnished room, 3 meals/day)
THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR PROFESSIONALS WHO WOULD LIKE TO COLLABORATE AND SHARE THEIR PROFESSIONAL
SKILLS; SPANISH IS HELPFUL BUT NOT A REQUIREMENT
